The Lotz Hall (Lotz-Terem) was named after Karl Lotz who painted the murals inside the Alexandra Bookcafe, as well as those of the Budapest Opera, Hungarian Parliament, Hungarian National Museum, St. Stephens Basilica, the ceiling fresco in the Buda Castle and many many more.

One of the jewels of Budapest's illustrious Belle Époque, the 19th-century Lotz Hall - originally a casino - was extensively renovated and transformed into the Art Nouveau-style Paris Department Store (the sign "Párisi Nagy Áruház" is still visible on the façade) at the onset of the 20th century.

With the Lotz Terem being rebranded Andrássy Élményközpont, the Book Cafe in Budapest has also undergone a name change and is now called Café Párisi. The "heavy furniture has been swapped out and replaced with a more "delicate" decor. I've seen some recent images and I must say its lost a lot of its previous charm.

The historical Lotz Hall's café has been abandoned for two years on Andrássy Street, Budapest. When the department store's renovation was completed in 2009, the café already existed and cooperated with the Alexandra Bookstore, and served guests with amazing coffees and other delicacies. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt two years ago.
