I have now "conserved" this moped - stripped, cleaned and re-built everything using all the original parts, keeping all the original finishes and the 50 years of patina.

May 20, 2012 09:10PM I bought a 1986 Jawa 210 a couple days ago, really nice condition. It drove fine but was a little rough on starting, and had a carb leak, so I replaced the main gasket on the carburetor (the big one). Rode it last night for about an hour, no leaking, it ran beautifully, except on the starts.

The 207 and 210 engines both employ a simple contactless electronic ignition system (the forerunner to the modern CDI ). The thyristor unit is prone to overheating, resulting in erratic or absent spark. A replacement unit can be purchased or soldered together from component parts.
